notes Spinal cord cross-section, Gridley's reticular stain. Taken at 10x. IB 131L slide #15. This section is oriented with the ventral/anterior surface at the top and the dorsal/posterior surface at the bottom. The grey matter (inner 'H') and white matter are distinct in this slide, with the grey matter staining a darker pink. In the grey matter, a posterior/dorsal horn, the central commissure, central canal, entering fibers of the dorsal root, and part of a anterior/ventral horn are visible. One can also see the cell bodies of the large multipolar motor neurons in the anterior horn (larger, pink cells). The pink band external to the white matter in the lower left corner of this image is part of the dorsal root.camera Nikon D70, original resolution: 300dpi, 3008x2000pxls at 10x magnification
