INFORMATION PROVIDED WITH THE PHOTO
  • date of photo  May 21, 2006
  • location   Lake Earl-Tolowa Lagoon System, Stranding Monitoring Pool #2 (Del Norte County, California, US)
  • family Gobiidae
  • class Pisces
  • habitat  these from an isolated pool caused by high water breaching lagoon
  • notes   Carl Page & I collected these gobies from Pool #2, an isolated pool that forms after each breach event since 1996 that we know of, near the mouth of Lake Tolowa where the seasonal breaches occur. We rescued fish here in 2005 and 2006 after summer breaches during the goby breeding season. I studied this spot in 1996, 1997 with Charle Chamberlain, now of Arcata USFWS; in 1998-1999 with Carl Page for the Tetra Tech study, and in 2003 for the Tidewater Goby Distribution Study for Greg Goldsmith, Arcata USFWS.
