location
Osgood Swamp, South Lake Tahoe; along trail eastside of swamp (lake). (El Dorado County, California, US)family
Ericaceae
notes This Pyrola seems to key possibly to P. chlorantha, given the minimal white vienation. It appears distinct from P. picta growing in the vicinty, but does not have a peltate stigma consistent with P. minor. I did not collect this specimen so I have defaulted to P. picta.camera Canon EOS 5D

| Reviewer's comments: | | | "This is Pyrola dentata (note it has glaucus leaves that appear blue-green in color), indeed a separate species from P. picta but not listed in the Jepson 2 manual and listed only as a subspecies of P. picta in the 1993 edition. Check out Diana Jolles' work on the group at Pyrola.org for more info. It is a fun group we have represented here in southern California too!" |
