notes Photographed on Jepson Herbarium Workshop to Convict Lake area. According to trip notes it was refered to as P. racemosa var. paniculata. However, from reading the 'Intermountain Flora' by Cronquist et. al. (Vol 5, pg 212) it seems to me that var. sessiliflora may fit better, as the phyllary tips on this plant are generally reflexed rather than appressed. (Note: There is a small specimen of Sphaeromeria potentilloides in the bottom right corner of the image :-)camera Shot on a Canon Digital Rebel XT at f8, 1/200, ISO 100, with a Canon 50mm Compact macro lens.
