| Reviewer's comments: | | | | "The species is correct. When I was attending Utah State University, I worked with Dr. Larry Rupp on these trees a little. Anyone interested in them should contact him. Currently, he is collecting and propagating several samples from the nearby canyons that have varying fall colors. He has some that are yellow, orange, red, and even maroon. The maroons are amazing. But, this variety has problems with aphids while the others do not. The Bigtooth is the Great Basin's evolved Sugar Maple. It thrives in their higher pH soils. But, nurseries out in Oregon graft them onto Sugar Maple root stocks voiding them of their soil tolerant attributes." |
