notes Habitat shot of Chorizanthe staticoides (low pink-flowered plants in foreground). [NOTE: I had posted this earlier as C. breweri, but I now believe that was a mis-identification. The ''Flora of North America'' key indicates that C. breweri grows lower and flat against the ground and typically has white perianths, whereas C. staticoides is more erect (as in this image) and typically has bright pink flowers. These two species are considered very close to one another in phylogeny (and also in keys). CalFlora has records of both at this locality, and they are the only two species of Chorizanthe recorded in the local area. I've also posted images of what I believe is actual C. breweri here on CalPhotos from the same general area.] Salvia mellifera and Lotus scoparius appear behind and tho right of the Chorizanthe.camera Shot on a Canon D60 at f16, 1/30 sec, ISO 100, using a Canon 50mm Canon Compact macro lens.
