notes Three flowers and a bud of Polygala cornuta var. fishiae. The flowers have 5 sepals and 3 petals. There is a single upper sepal, and an outer and inner pair of lateral sepals (the latter are referred to as the 'wings'). The upper sepal and wings are clearly visible in the two flowers on the right. One of the outer lateral sepals is visible below on the flower to the left and on the bud. The corolla consists of one larger pouched and nippled principal petal (which encloses the stamens and style, much like the 'keel' of a pea flower), and two thinner, parallel, oblong-linear, upper petals which are somewhat longitudinally incurved and slightly reflexed at the tip.
