North Fork American River (Placer County, California, US)notes Just below the confluence of Wildcat Canyon and the North Fork American River, a fine exposure of Tioga-age glacial outwash is seen on the south bank of the river. This and many similar deposits form terraces along miles of the North Fork. Here, the outwash dates from recessional phases of the Tioga glaciation; it is likely less than 12,000 years old. The terrace was heavily gouged by the January 1997 flood event.camera Nikon 990
