INFORMATION PROVIDED WITH THE PHOTO
  • date of photo  Apr 10, 2004
  • location   Palisade Falls, North Fork American River (Placer County, California, US)
  • notes   Petroglyph Falls, on the North Fork American River, in the Royal Gorge. April 2004. Trails into this area are blocked by snow until June, so these large waterfalls are rarely seen at high flows. Petroglyphs associated with the Martis Complex people, of ~4500-1500 years before the present, are on the canyon rim directly above these falls.
