plant community Sandy Desert Washnotes One of the most intriguing aspects of Nemacladus species are the 'small stipelike appendages, each of which bears one or more terminal transparent rodlike cells', as described by Phillip Munz. In this species the 'stipelike appendages' are rather long (pale yellow-pinkish-white) and the transparent rods are splayed out fan-like reminiscent of the digits of a hand. I'm fascinated by these 'appendages'. What function do they serve?camera Shot on a Canon D60 at f3.5, 1/200 with a Canon 50mm compact macro lens.
