  • notes   One of the most intriguing aspects of Nemacladus species are the 'small stipelike appendages, each of which bears one or more terminal transparent rodlike cells', as described by Phillip Munz. In this image, these are best seen in the flower on the left. In this species the 'stipelike appendages' are yellow, and the transparent rods are reflexed from the vertical by an angle of around 135 degree in the flower on the left to almost 180 degree in the flower on the right. I'm fascinated by these 'appendages'. I'm very curious as to what function they serve in pollination.
