  • location   Near Wind Caves, just south of Split Mountain gorge. Anza-Borrego State Park (San Diego County, California, US)
  • family Apocynaceae
  • plant community   Rocky desert slope.
  • notes   Two anomalies are visible here. First the color dimorphism (yellowish on left, whitish on right). Second, there are a number of 4-merous flowers (two can be seen just in from the upper leftmost flowers). Flowers in Asclepias are normally 5-merous.
  • camera   Shot on a Canon D60 at f10, 1/200 using a Canon 50mm Compact Macro lens.
