| Reviewer's comments: | | | "I believe that this photo is mislabeled with respect to where it was taken. I don't believe it was taken in the Salt Point Pygmy Forest, and I don't believe it is Abies grandis. I have collected field data in Lassen Volcanic National Park and I believe this photo is taken in the Chaos Craggs Jumble near Manzanitata Lake and that this is a stunted Abies concolor growing in the dacite lava rocks of the jumble. In the background of this photo is a much larger tree, obviously a long-needle pine but not a P.contorta or P.muricata (I think it is a Pinus Jeffreyi). Also in the background is the left flank (steep) of Chaos Craggs. I suspect this photo was taken from near the main road (Hwy 89) through the park looking to the southeast. I have several similar photos taken in this same vicinity that show the general vicinity as well as the different conifer vegetation as it grows in this area. I have posted some of these photos at www.grsgis.comphotosphotos.html " |
