plant community Growing in chaparral intermingled with patchy stands of Pinus attenuata on nutrient poor sandy substrate.notes Arctostphylos nummularia is unusual in that the calyx and corolla are both 4 lobed, rather than 5 lobed as in most manzanitas. Update 1/2013: The Bonny Doon plants shown here, which were previously treated as A. nummalaria var. sensitiva, have been promoted to species level as A. sensitiva in the current JM2 treatment. camera Shot at f29, 1 second on a Canon D60 with Canon 50mm Compact Macro lens on a Gitzo 2220 tripod.
