  • plant community   Growing in chaparral intermingled with patchy stands of Pinus attenuata on nutrient poor sandy substrate.
  • notes   Arctostphylos nummularia is unusual in that the calyx and corolla are both 4 lobed, rather than 5 lobed as in most manzanitas.

    Update 1/2013: The Bonny Doon plants shown here, which were previously treated as A. nummalaria var. sensitiva, have been promoted to species level as A. sensitiva in the current JM2 treatment.
