notes I have studied these trees closely, and compared the cones with those of known A. procera, and known A. magnifica var. shastensis. The cone scales are almost completely covered by the bracts on these Siskiyou Mountain specimens whereas the shastensis cone bracts only cover about half of the cone scales. Sometimes some of the bracts are broken off or chewed off by insects leaving a few cone scales showing, but the trees are definitely Noble Fir.photo category: Plant - tree
