INFORMATION PROVIDED WITH THE PHOTO
  • date of photo  Nov 5, 2023
  • latitude 46.35964   longitude 13.70473     View on Google Maps.
  • location   Lower Trenta valley, between villages Soča and Trenta, right bank of river Soča, near the abandoned farmhouse Skokar, Trenta 2; East Julian Alps (Posočje, Slovenia)
  • family Hydnangiaceae
  • notes   Slo.: vijoličasta bledivka - syn.: Laccaria amethystea (Bull.) Murr, Agaricus amethystinus Huds., Agaricus lividopurpureus With., Clitocybe amethystina (Cooke) Peck, Collybia amethystina (Cooke) Quél., Laccaria hudsonii Pázmány, Laccaria laccata var. amethystina (Cooke) Rea - Habitat: semi-ruderal grassland, under a canopy of Juglans regia next to an abandoned farmhouse; locally almost flat terrain, calcareous, skeletal, colluvial ground; mostly in shade; partly protected from direct rain by tree canopies; average precipitations ~ 3.000 mm/year, average temperature 7-9 deg C, elevation 555 m (1.820 feet), alpine phytogeographical region; pictures taken after a prolonged rainy period. - Substratum: soil, leaf litter, organic debris. - Comments (pertain to Flickr album Laccaria amethystina): Laccaria amethystina is a common mushroom with a very wide environmental latitude. It is edible, however, I haven't found it yet in a sufficient number to be worth picking for food. It is easy to recognize. Its typical violet color, thick and distant gills, and long flexuous stipe are so typical, that confusion is unlikely. - Description of the find: Two pilei present; hydrophanous; diameter of the larger 6.3 cm, stipe firm, fibrous, hollow, flexuous, 8 cm long, and about 9 mm in diameter; smell and taste faint, mushroomy; SP abundant, light beige with a slight yellow-greenish tint, oac892. The measured spore dimensions do not correspond to expectations. They are significantly too narrow (see Fig. 2M). I have no explanation for this. - Spores warty. Dimensions: (6,5) 7 - 8,6 (10,2) × (4,5) 4,9 - 5,9 (7,1) µm; Q = (1,3) 1,35 - 1,6 (1,7); N = 34; Me = 7,8 × 5,4 µm; Qe = 1,4. Olympus CH20, NEA 100x/1.25, magnification 1.000 x, oil (spores); in water, fresh material. AmScope MA500 digital camera on CH20. - Ref.: (1) J. Breitenbach, F.
