A large colorful shrub on a low hillside slope above highway surrounded by a dense Magellanic deciduous Nothofagus forest. Site previously clearcut harvested for timber, now recovering with scattered forbs and shrubs on or around black shale/slate bedrock exposures in gravelly soil of mixed colluvial volcanic and alluvial sedimentary origin.keywords: SA, Chile
