location Waterloo Creek at State Highway 76 (Allamakee County, Iowa, US)notes Waterloo Creek at Highway 76 is a stocked trout stream and one of the finest riparian habitats in the state of Iowa. Visible in the foreground is the light purple of Polemonium reptans, one of the spring ephemerals found here. Also blooming at this time are Mitella diphylla, Trillium grandiflorum and T. nivale, Erythronium americanum, Uvularia grandiflora, Hepatica acutiloba, Claytonia virginica, etc. It also marks the beginning of the Morchella esculenta (Yellow Morel) season, the pursuit of which is enjoyed almost as much as the consumption of this local delicacy.camera Canon PowerShot SX10 IS, wide angle, manual settingscontributor's ID # allamakee_county_iowa_habitat_002 photo category: Landscape - habitat
