location Scenic pull-out along highway 4 between Bear Valley and Alpine Lake (Alpine County, California, US)family Brassicaceaenotes This particular pull-out along highway 4 is well-trampled by kids and unknowing tourists but is still one of the most prolific spots I know for simple, 'right-off-the-road' viewing. I have returned to this spot time and time again throughout the season and am always rewarded with surprises. The hardiness of the wildflower species are well-tested here; I have seen many a Red Sierra Onion growing inside a well-defined boot-print.camera Sony Mavica MVC FD-83contributor's ID # Streptanthus_tortuosus_var_orbiculatus_BVALP_1 photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
