species associated with this habitat: Ceanothus crassifolius Quercus durata

notes Red Shank plant burl with Leather Oak?, Hoaryleaf ceanothus in dense Chapparall. Very steep north facing slope in Tujunga open space, site of future 221 home development. Ribbons of bark naturally peeling showing red trunk below. Site burned in late 1990s.
