location Siskiyou Mtns. near Grayback Summit, CA (Siskiyou County, California, US)family Pinaceaenotes I discovered these trees with the 'pineapple cones' at the top of Grayback Summit around 1980. I climbed to the top of one of the trees to collect specimen cones. I identified these trees as Abies procera. There are also Abies magnifica var. magnifica in the same vicinity (slightly lower in elevation).
