  • notes   Black eyes and dorsal, underside vivid orange with dark band across vent. Measured: SVL 70 mm (2¾ in.), TL 159 mm (6¼ in.). While in captivity this rough skinned newt survived overnight freezing temperature that accidentally froze solid, smooth skinned Ensatina eschscholtzii, Aneides flavipunctatus, and Batrachoseps attenuatus.
