  • plant community   Chihuahuan Desert sand scrub at 1230 m (4035')
  • notes   in sandy swales among Mesquite-Saltbush sand hummocks with annual Palafoxia, Verbesina, Pectis. A sand-loving, rhizomatous perennial long known under the synonym A. arenaria. Now reduced to varietal status under A tomentosa although it appears significantly different from the traditional A. tomentosa var. tomentosa from Arizona and California.
