| Reviewer's comments: | | | "The animal in the photograph is clearly Palmatogecko rangei based upon it's pinkish, translucent skin and web feet. In all of Gekkota, there are only a couple of species which have similar scalation, and thereby resemble P. rangei. They are P. vanzyli and Stenodactylus arabicus. P. rangei differs from both of these species in having all of its feet webbed.Homophotis, I believe, is a mispelling of the African genus Homopholis, which does contain a species fasciata. However, Homopholis is currently regarded as a synonym of Platypholis and P. fasciata is an arboreal gecko with unwebbed but dialated toes and is a black and grey banded species. Therefore, I request the species name given with these photos be changed to Palmatogecko rangei so as to reflect the correct classification." |
