This photo and the other two similars, are not of Lotus nuttallianus. If you look up the Jepson treatment and scroll down to the range map, the location of the photograph is out of the natural range.
The plant only occurs in So.Cal. not up in Carmel.

Species mis-ID'd. L. nuttallianus has a petioled inflorescence. This is not L. nuttallianus.
