05/21/2003 CalPhotos Staff  taxon changed Phrynosoma cornutum (Texas Horned Lizard) Phrynosoma coronatum (Coast Horned Lizard, Lagartija-cornuda De Litoral)
From Wendy L. Hodges, Ph.D., Department of Biology, University of California at Riverside: This photo identified by the photographer as Phrynosoma cornutum looks a lot like Phrynosoma coronatum, the coast horned lizard. These two species are often confused because of the close spelling of their names, but scalation visible in the photo really suggests it is P. coronatum.
