Cacicus melanicterus (Yellow-winged Cacique) |
Icterus chrysocephalus (Moriche Oriole) | The "Yellow-winged Cacique" on this photo has a mistaken ID: First, notice the locality (Colombia). The Yellow-winged Cacique has *never* been recorded any further south than El Salvador (and even this far south is unusual; it's distribution is basically the Pacific slope of Mexico with a disjunct population in Guatemala). Even without locality it is fairly easy to exclude the Yellow-winged Cacique, as this species has a mainly yellow tail, no yellow cap and a pale bill. The bird on the photo is a Moriche Oriole (Icterus chrysocephalus), part of the I. cayanensis complex. |
