Olla v-nigrum (Ashy Gray Ladybird Beetle) |
Harmonia axyridis | Based on the markings, this looks like the exotic Harmonia axyridis. Specific comments from Natalia Vandenberg (Coccinellidae expert, USDA): The Olla v-nigrum spotted morph has a grey or beige ground color, never the pumpkin color shown in the photo in question (Olla may look yellow or brown, but only in dead specimens). Also the total spot pattern in Olla is 4-3-1; in H. axyridis it is 2.5-3-3-1. So even though you may have some spots missing, if you see four rows, it can't be Olla. H. axyridis has a rumpled area near the elytra. |
