Malacothamnus fremontii |
Malacothamnus orbiculatus | M. orbiculatus often misidentified as M. fremontii. M. fremontii not known from the east side of the Sierras. The key character for identifying the M. fremontii complex appears to be flowers that dry open whereas they generally dry closed in the rest of the genus. |
