Nemophila pedunculata (Possibly Parviflora) |
| This is definitely in the N. pedunculata complex and not parviflora. Not only that but it appears to be a distinct segregate called N. humifusa Kellogg, based on leaf and flower morphology. One possible problem: although various segregates of N. pedunc. have a pale purple wedge at tip of petals, N. humifusa is always plain white in my experience. Has the smallest flowers in the complex, gen ca. 2mm. Another distinctive feature is the presence of white "blister" patches on leaves, and distinctly petiolate cotyledons (see photos of seedlings posted under N. humifusa). Known from sandy habitats on coast and inland, from SF to SLO Co.; this would represent a slight southward range extension. If you like you could move these photos to N. humif. |
