02/19/2008	The beetle is Paracotalpa ursina, in the scarab family (Scarabaeidae). I photographed these beetles on the Oenothera at the same location 5 days earlier (on Mar 29, 2003) :-) Jeff Greenhouse was on our field trip and also keyed the Oenothera at the site to O. deltiodes ssp. cognata (see http://www.calflora.org/cgi-bin/occform.cgi?taxon=Oenothera+deltoides+ssp.+cognata&add_syn=t&county=Fresno&oform=html&out_map=t&action=t
